3D model description
Model of the Destruction Island Lighthouse, recreated in N scale (1:160) using photographs and detailed plans of the real building.
The lighthouse stands on a small and remote island off the coast of Washington State, USA.
Completed in 1891, the lighthouse rises 29 meters above the island and is painted white with a black lantern. The complex originally included keeper’s houses, a fog signal building, and other service structures. Automated in 1968, today both the island and the lighthouse are uninhabited.
Although the island itself is inaccessible, the lighthouse can be seen from the mainland at nearby viewpoints such as Ruby Beach and Kalaloch.
Model Features:
- Scale: 1:160 (compatible with N scale layouts)
- Design quality: realistic architectural proportions and highly accurate detailing.
- Ideal for: dioramas, railway layouts, collections, or educational and decorative projects.
You can rescale the model to fit your project, but keep in mind that some parts may lose strength or fine detail if resized. The download includes a conversion chart from 1/160 to other scales (e.g. H0).
The model consists of 20 different pieces that need to be assembled and glued like any other model kit. It includes STL files with and without supports, along with a step-by-step assembly guide to make printing and building easier.
Please note: the roofs of the lighthouse entrance and the auxiliary buildings are not included. These must be made from 0.5 mm thick cardstock. The download includes both a printable template and an SVG file, in case you have access to a laser cutting machine.
3D printing settings
Designed to be printed using SLA resin printers, although the parts are also suitable for FDM filament printers with good resolution.
- Overall dimensions are L52 x W83 x H193 mm
- The widest part measures Ø52.6 mm
please check the maximum build volume of your printer
- The kit includes 20 pieces (some require multiple copies, e.g., windows).
The download provides STL files with and without supports.
- For the pre-supported files, orientation may not be optimal for printing: supports were designed to minimize imperfections and ensure a proper fit between parts. However, you may adjust the orientation and add supports according to your own printing methods.
- The flat roofs of the entrance building and the auxiliary structures must be made from 0.5 mm cardstock. The download includes a printable template as well as an SVG file, in case you use a laser cutter.
- The T1 LAMP piece corresponds to the lighthouse lantern and should be printed in clear resin if you want to illuminate it.
- The kit has been designed with slots and openings for wiring, in case you wish to light it with microLEDs.
Enjoy and happy printing!
