CHANGE LOG:
V1 Initial Release - Feb 21, 2025
V2 Minor Bug Fix - Feb 23, 2025
- IFS2_Diff_Mount_v2.stl updated
V3 Major Update - Feb 25, 2025
- rear diff brace utilizing the VFD mounting posts has been added to the files. Note you must print all (3) V3 files for this update:
-IFS2_Diff_Brace_v3.stl
-IFS2_Diff_Mount_v3.stl
-IFS2_VFD_Bracket_v3.stl
V3.1 Minor Update - March 1, 2025
Completely revisited skid released; matches the stock rear H10 geometry and design. More room for spur cover and different 4-bolt transmissions other than the Axial/VP 3-gear. Strongly recommend upgrading older skid to this variant.
-IFS2_Skid_3gear_v2.stl
V3.2 - March 4, 2025
The rest of the V2 skids have been added ; this mimics the stock H10 rear link mounting locations; results in better rear geometry.
-IFS2_Skid_DLux_Nod2R_v2.stl
-IFS2_Skid_BLANK_v2.stl
V3.3 - March 15, 2025
-HD front skid added; (IFS_Front_Skid_v2.stl)
Currently requires the usage of the included skid and a 4bolt (3gear) transmission (SCX10/Element/VP SCX) etc, R2 LCG, or Nod2 Dlux style transmission. A blank skid without holes is also included for other custom transmissions.
The Stock H10 CMS (chassis mounted servo) location is used with a 20mm servo horn (VP Cast horns work perfectly and are recommended. Servo to be facing forward with horn forward. If horn cannot be centered at 0 servo travel suggest offset 5-10 deg towards passenger side as shown in photo. Beware a standard size servo is required in the CMS location.
A 45mm (Centre to Centre) Steering Link is required; typical construction includes (1) TRA5525 and (1) TRA5347 Rod end connected using M4x20mm Grub Screw. See photos for example and product info.
The Element IFS2 width is closer to F10 than H10. I am using F10 style width axle in the photos; beware if using H10 rear axle you will need wide SLW on the front and narrow on the rear to suit.
Installation Instructions:
1) Remove the stock servo mount and two uprights on the top of the stock IFS2 kit from Element and the stock front skid.
2) WARNING - You must flip the diff in the IFS2 kit version; open the diff using (6) screws on the bottom. Cut the small nub off with exacto or dremel and install ring on the other side. Reassemble.
3) Remount the new IFS_Diff_Mounts to the top of the IFS2 using the previous or new hardware (M3x12 min).
4) Mount the new IFS2_Front_Skid provided with the existing hardware.
3) Mount the Shock Mount to the frame using (2) buttonhead (they're tight and rub together but will install fine)
4) Install transmission of choice into skid.
5) Install rear upper links using (2) M3x20mm buttonhead hardware.
6) Install skid into H10 cage skirts while installing the IFS2 bottom skid/bottom rear links at the same time using (4) M3x35.
7) Install steering link
8) Install cage mounts using (4) screws previously used for H10 bump stops.
9) Install shocks.
