Graflex Lightsaber

3D model description

This is the lightsaber you're looking for. Search your feelings. You know it to be true.

This is a lightsaber design, I've been working on for a long time. It is technically identical to the 1980 The Empire Strikes Back and 2015 The Force Awakens movie prop. I've used the dimensions of the 3 cell Graflex flash handle as a reference which was the original lightsaber prop.

The model is made of 36 separate parts, all of them support free, optimised for FDM printing and they can be assembled without any glue. I've attached highly detailed printing and assembly instructions. I've also designed two display stands for the lightsaber.

The models are optimised for and were tested on the Ultimaker 2 so to achieve the best results you are suggested to use a printer with a similar accuracy.

Well, just a word to those wanting to print this. The description makes it seem as though everything is 3D printed. However, you will need either a D-Ring of the appropriate size or some 3mm filament that you form using an included jig. Unfortunately, I have neither.

Hi! My older brother has a 3D printer and I'm thinking on having my older brother make me one from your files!

What would I need to buy him to be silvery (and red button, etc) like yours?

Thank you!!! I'm lovin' this Lightsaber to bits!!!

I have printed several version of these from other designers and I have to say your model is THE BEST thought out. Everything connects perfectly and easily. Your instruction booklet is also top notch. Well done and thank you!

@JAYTAY Wow! You truly have a thorough knowledge of Star Wars props. :) You're the first one I know, who is aware of this small difference. Yes, I designed the model to be assembled as an ESB or a TFA version. (The TNH would have needed too many modifications. Seven grips, different D-ring mount, etc.) Maybe I should mention this in the description.

Just looked at the files and I see you've already planned for this, forget what I said =P

Fantastic model! As far as I can tell its perfectly accurate for the TFA version, but the ESB version doesn't have the beer tab on the knob below the bunny ears, and the front knob is red rather than clear.
