Space Pistol
Good morning! I wanted to start iff by saying you did an excellent job at modeling! I really appreciate the thought and effort that went behind designing for additive manufacturing! The only question that I have with regards to assembling the space pistol is the optional airsoft spring. What size spring should we use? I believe I measured it to be about 5.0in-5.5in long? Is this correct?

Because i've just printed two of your models, not only do they look amazing but the level of clever engineering of the parts and how they fit together is well above what i'd even expect from paid files, so i'm glad they're free, but it also feels criminal :'D
How many spools do they take
Depends on your settings my dude, I print with PETG with 4-5 walls and 10% infill, I'd say the Lasgun took bout 2kg, the laspistol less. I don't keep track I use 5kg to 8kg spools mostly.

Yeah, PETG is more durable than PLA and more resistant to heat and not harder to print. For Props you're going to use for Cosplay I recommend it. Also don't bother with 1kg spools unless you can get them for peanuts, the second you start printing Props you're going to need several kilos at once, might as well get a 5kg spool so you don't have to worry about changing the damn thing every other day and running out mid-print

I've had an idea for the bolt spring issue on the space pistol V1, would it be possible to add a pocket for a m6 nut behind the spring pocket on the rear lower receiver so one could add a long m6 screw as spring guide. Of course on the bolt side you'd have to create a empty cylinder, so the screw doesn't get in the way of the bolt travel. I'm going to try to accomplish the same thing with glueing a metal rod in place of the screw and drill out the bolt.
I know these beauties are designed for FDM but has anyone had any luck using resin? Curious about any recommendations before I give it a go because I’m really needing to make these.

I would love to mount your prints to the wall but unfortunately I cant find an elegant way of doing it, I currently have your las pistol and bolter printed and I have your las rifle, bolt pistol and hotshot laz rifle in the works and was wondering if you had a good way to mount them? also I love your models and there are genuinely some of the best work I've seen in the 3d printing community!!

no worries bro. Take your time. I fully respect your work and wish to support it. you did 99% of the work for the mod i did haha. If it works out, ill also downscale it to make the m5 screws m4. that way there are 3 sizes.
and maybe just maybe we should try to make the m5 into m2. the m3 screws will need to become m1.2 screws and the trigger m3 screw will have to be a self tapping m1.2 probably. i think the hard part with that is i did run into a few extrusion issues with the mag as the walls were too thin. so maybe the minibaby bolter will have to be printed with a 0.2mm nozzle
oh and the last problem i found was the magazine doesn't retain the bullets very well. i see you fixed the issue with the free bolter pistol. so i have an idea to add glue inserts to tighten up the feed lips for it. though i think you will be the best person to fix that issue as you got the step files and its hard to change a shape like that in blender without fudging it up
I love the Hot-Shot-Las prop. Just finished printing. I modified the release button to incorporate repelling magnets (10 mm). Prefer them over a spring, because they don't make squeaking noises and I prefer the feel of repelling magnets over springs. Now I'm thinking how to incorporate an Arduino including an LCD display within the magwell, high powered LED lights inside the barrels, electric switches for all both the switches and the magazine and the trigger. Also I'm thinking how to design the trigger, to incorporate both, the switch and repelling magnets, instead of a spring. Any ideas, how to do fit in latter? I will make some pics later. Do you want to see the magnetic mag release?
Fun fact but these models started with a repelling magnet release, 10mm as well. The slots are still there on some of the models. But i found the springs to be more reliable. I've left a fair bit of the model hollow just for the modifications you mentioned. Also the dial has space for leds. I've even left channels to guide the wires, but i'm not sure if they're also included in this model, all my other las ones have them. But you should be able to fit everything inside. I've tried to make this model somewhat easy for disassembly for the batteries, electronics and etc. Yet it was hard for me to standardize it as people source stuff they have at hand. Which are of different sizes/tolerances.
Yeah, I know what you mean with te reliability. The screw for the mag release needs to be set in a perfect tension to work. Me, being a bike mechanic, have the perfect skills and tools to pull this of. I'm currently sourcing some materials to fully incorporate electronics. When I'm finished, I will show some more pictures.
Hey Bro, I made a version for my kids that turns the m5 screws into m3 screws and i cleaned up all the things necessary to make it work. though i dont know how i can give people the files as this is a paid model. Ill be making a video about it as well. is there any way we can get people these files, especially the ones who already bought it. as the bolter is WAY too heavy for my kids and i wanted to make them one their size.
Hey, i've just seen this comment.I really appreciate the work you did into fixing some of the faults in the design. If I understand correctly it's a shrunken down version of the model all together?
Yes, strictly for the purpose of it being kid arm friendly haha. There is no way to distribute this particular mod without giving people the entire project. Do maybe it's best I pass you the files and you include it in the downloads?
Aldo I made 3mf files for the lasrifle, bolter, and bolter pistol that has everything optimized. Oh and I made a blender project for seeing pant jobs before printing I'll send you.
Do you plan on making sights for the laspistol?
