3D model description
EDIT3: I was made aware that the clone I used in modeling this does not exactly line up with an Authentic E3D V6. Changing the title to reflect. Please do not print this out for an authentic E3D without modifying it to fit your nozzle. I will research the differences and post a new model in the near future.
EDIT 2: Apologies! I posted the gcode vice STL's on the previous rev. Added the STL's back in. Also added an STL for the metal stock "shroud and nozzle" assembly. This is not to use as a printable item as is. It is included for people who are modifying the provided files. Loading the shroud/nozzle stl and fan duct stls into modeling software (I use Blender) will show actual position/assembly.
EDIT: I posted a revision of the Fan part design. I found the cooling nozzles were angled too high. They were cooling the hotend nozzle before the plastic could extrude and thus clogging the nozzle. I posted three modifications to the Part Fan Mount. The Full circle. The Half circle, and the Crescent. All three had the nozzles angled lower to direct the air flow further from the hotend.
I blended together designs by MrGlenDale and Jtron to create this. Their things are:
- https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4114164 MrGlendale TronXY X5SA V6 Mount using stock parts
- https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4221500 Jtron X5SA Upgraded Part Cooler - 5015 Blower Mount
Modifications I made:
- Base Mount: slight structure change to allow for the part cooling fan screws.
- Clamp: modified bottom to direct more airflow away from hotend.
- 5015 Fan Mount: structure change to align cooling nozzles to hotend position and changed/modified mounting screw locations slightly.
When mounting:
- Attach hotend cooling fan to Clamp (2 or 4 M3 18mm or 20mm screws and nuts; depending on fan model used). Tighten fully.
- Insert M3 & M5 nuts into associated locations (2 M5 nuts for clamp, 2 M3 nuts for Stock Level Sensor, and 1 M3 nut for fan mount)
- Bolt in base to stock plate as shown (2 M3 10mm and 1 M3 6mm screws). Tighten fully.
- Attach Fan Mount (2 M3 10mm screws and 1 additional M3 nut) as shown. Do not fully tighten yet.
- Place hotend in mount and check level / height of fan assembly. Should be above hotend nozzle and level. Once plumb, tighten fan mount screws/nuts fully. (note: do not drop hotend....)
- Attach Stock Level sensor (2 M3 20mm screws). Do not fully tighten yet.
- Mount hotend, routing wires between sensor and base plate.
- Attach Clamp (2 M5 20mm screws). Tighten fully.
- Adjust level sensor to approx. 2mm above hotend nozzle tip and tighten sensor screws fully.
- Attach Part Cooling Fan (2 M5 24mm screws and nuts; depending on fan model used). Tighten fully.
My BOM:
- 8 - M3 Nuts
- 4 - M5 Nuts
- 1 - M3 6mm Cap Head Screw
- 4 - M3 10mm Cap Head Screws
- 4 - M3 18mm Cap Head Screws
- 2 - M3 20mm Cap Head Screws
- 2 - M5 20mm Cap Head Screws
- 2 - M5 24mm Cap Head Screws
Depending on individual configuration your setup may require different parts.
