3D printable Drone Body

Ever since my graduation project, I had all my drones with this wire spaghetti everywhere. The drones look ugly with all the components exposed and just mounted on top. so, I decided to design a drone body that will keep all the wiring inside. it will look neat from outside. I also considered some openings for the receiver antenna and telemetry. The GPS placement is the only exception. One more problem was the drone stability, so, the drone arms was made with a 5° dihedral angle to increase stability.

I used PIXHAWK 2.4.8 as my flight controller, you can use your own flight controller as well as long it will fit inside. You can use APM, Speedy Bee, etc.

The main body was printed using PLA+ while the arms and legs used PETG. The reason behind using PETG is that it is stronger and more elastic. Another reason is its higher heat resistance than PLA+, this is generally good with the motor’s temperature. You can use whatever filament you want if you believe the type of motors you use won’t get too hot.

• Infill: 30% (I used gyroid pattern)
• Supports spacing 2-4 mm
• Top and Bottom layers: 4
• V shell layers 2 (minimum)

• Supports may require some force to be removed.
• Expected overall printed weight: 430 g (300 g after supports removal)
• Expected printing time: 2 days (on a single printer).
