The Stomper is a 6x6 unmanned ground vehicle that can autonomously move and engage enemy targets on its own accord without requiring manual input from the operator. It is fitted with a hybrid electric-diesel engine.
Features
Stompers are available in two configurations:
The baseline unarmed drone designed exclusively as a munitions carrier that can transport a single passenger[CfgVh 1]
An armed configuration also capable of carrying a single passenger[CfgVh 2] but is fitted with a dual-feed Remote Controlled Weapon Station (RCWS) turret that has a 12.7 mm heavy machine gun and a 40 mm automatic grenade launcher mounted[CfgVh 9][CfgVh 10]
As a wheeled drone, the Stomper can act as a mobile resupply vehicle when deployed alongside infantry squads, hauling spare missiles for shoulder-fired launchers and/or ammo belts for medium machine guns and other bulky man-portable weapons.
Armed configurations of the Stomper are able to serve as a force multiplier for an infantry squad thanks to its combination of a 12.7 mm HMG and 40 mm AGL. Having such a low clearance and short turret profile means that armed Stompers won't stick out on the horizon compared to armed MRAPs and other similarly tall infantry vehicles - at least when viewed from a distance.
Mobility
The Stomper's engine has a power output of 80 kW[CfgVh 11] and can generate up to 500 N·m of torque.[CfgVh 12]
Due to its torque curves[CfgVh 13], the Stomper has a great acceleration rate and can attain its top speed of 46 km/h in less than 8 seconds on flat terrain (assuming turbo is activated as well). However, its weak engine means that it can't go any faster than 46 km/h even with turbo toggled. Furthermore, its 6x6 layout and heavy weight for a vehicle of its size (~ 4 tonnes) also imposes a steep penalty to its turn rate; it will require plenty of room to make simple manoeuvres and will lose speed rapidly on hard turns.[CfgVh 14]
The only aspect where the Stomper excels over most wheeled vehicles is its off-road capabilities, since the Stomper can comfortably maintain a top speed of 40-42 km/h on the roughest of surfaces. When climbing up hills with a steep incline, Stompers will be slowed down to a crawl of 28-30 km/h but this is still faster than most wheeled vehicles in its class.[CfgVh 15]
Drawbacks
Unlike most drones, Stompers are not fully data linked. They can share their own location to friendly data link-capable assets but are unable to send targeting data back to them.[CfgVh 16] The lack of sensors for targeting purposes and not possessing a laser designator also means Stompers cannot be used to laser mark targets for guided munitions of any kind.
Although its chassis and hull are protected by 30 millimetre-thick composite armour plates, the Stomper is not completely impervious to ballistic threats. Small arms fire from assault rifles and light machine guns can be shrugged off, but 12.7 mm HMGs and autocannons alike can penetrate the drone's armour and inflict heavy damage. Being a wheeled vehicle also renders the Stomper vulnerable to being immobilised by blast damage from frag grenades and other explosive munitions. Even anti-personnel mines can potentially burst all of its tyres in just one or two hits.
Therefore, it is better to have the Stomper serve as a support asset to escort motorised infantry squads or be manually controlled to utilise the Stomper in a reconnaissance role, scouting ahead for friendly forces as opposed to being a part of frontal assaults.
