3D model description
While all of the undead legionaries of the Lost Legion shared a disregard for life and a lack of interest in preserving it, those who joined the Nihilist cadres were particularly renowned for their deep and almost irrational hatred towards the living. Specialised in the use of ethically questionable weaponry, such as radioactive devices or phosphor-napalm explosives, each of them had their own reasons for such spite: longing for what they no longer had, a radical feeling of superiority or even outright envy, Nihilists did not tolerate the presence of living creatures in their vicinity, and approached the brutality of warfare as a way to get rid of such plague.
This kit includes all the files necessary to print the following bits, designed to be mixed with the Sectarian Armour and the Bladecrow Jump Packs, but also compatible with other similarly proportioned models:
- 8x empty arm poses designed to be compatible with any of the wrist mounted pistols below to allow for a very large number of permutations when mirrored and combined.
- 1x wrist-mounted basic pistol.
- 1x wrist-mounted hand flamethrower.
- 1x wrist-mounted molecular rake serpenta.
- 1x wrist-mounted ionic coil-pistol.
- 5x arms with standard basic pistols for more of a classic look.
- 3x Nihilist helmets to make them stand out from other units.
- 3x Nihilist pauldrons (flat, split and with the Nihilist icon) based on the sectarian design but with added radioactive emitters.
- 2x rapidfire rad launchers.
- 2x deatomizer rifles.
- 2x gravity spears.
- 5x side belts with radiation grenades.
- 5x side belts with sheathed chainsaw swords.
- 1x side belt with an empty scabbard.
- 1x empty side belt.
- 1x side belt with phosphor-napalm bombs.
- 1x side belt with a phosphor-napalm bomb and a radiation grenade.
- 1x arm tossing a phosphor-napalm bomb.
- 1x arm tossing a radiation grenade with a smoke trail.
All the pistols, arms and side belts are designed so they can be mirrored, both for variety and for the iconic dual gunslinger look.
The side belt system is a new idea I'm trying out, which came out of necessity because of how much gear these guys can carry, but which I am quite happy with. I will probably do more options in the future and release them separately with all sorts of tacticool stuff, so I'd be especially interested in any feedback you guys might have in this regard.
Do note that the legs, torsos, backpacks and some of the weapons seen in the pictures and renders are NOT included in this kit but available separately. These are shown to display how the unit would look once assembled, and greyed out in the first picture.
Edit: Added the weapons without arms and grenades without belts for any kitbashers who want to have fun with them, so they are only available as unsupported .obj files.
3D printing settings
Both pre-supported and unsupported .stl files included for each piece, as well as .ags files so you can manipulate the supports using Runebrace. Unfortunately, this kit still includes some bits from before my previous slicer betrayed humanity and I swapped to Runebrace (which I'll take the opportunity to add, is actually much batter), so some of the files are not available in .ags format, namely the first 5 empty arm poses, the arms with pistols and the wrist-mounted pistols.
I printed mine in Anycubic's gray ABS-like V2 resin (water-wash) on a Elegoo Saturn 3 printer with 0.04mm layer height, 2.4 exposure time, 6>7 lift distance, 45>100 lift speed, 180>65 retract speed and 0,5 wait after lift. There were 5 burn in layers with 25 exposure time and 7 transition layers. However, these values can change significantly between printers and resins, so trust your own experience.
I test printed all the bits available (even those not in the printed example unit) to make sure the pre-supported files worked.
