The grand piano is my largest project to date in terms of overall dimension, part count, material consumption, and build time. This project was inspired by the Lego Grand Piano that features some impressive mechanics. However, it does not reproduce the accurate action mechanism and is not playable. Therefore, I challenged myself to create a model that replicates and showcases the magnificent mechanism in an actual grand piano condensed into a tiny, display-worthy package.

Hidden within every grand piano is a fascinating world of mechanisms. A piano is basically a Rude Goldberg machine where pressing a key or pedal leads to a chain reaction that activates a series of levers and hinges.

Kindly Note that this is NOT a 100% 3D printed model. There are fasteners and rods that are used to assemble the 3D printed parts together, and the links and BOM for all the non-printable components can be found in the assembly guide.

The Grand Piano Model also includes the 5 Key and 13 Key action models as free add-ons.

Overall Dimension: 400mm(Depth) x 280mm(Width) x 415mm (Height)

Printing time : 250 Hours
Material : Mainly PLA with some small PETG parts
Material consumption: 3kg
