3D Model

Make’s description

Printed this model as 1/72 scale. Made some minor mods in Lightwave 3D to suit my printer and created my own engines, also in Lightwave. Sliced in Cura.

Glued printed sections with Super Glue and baking soda. The baking soda and Super Glue set like rock almost instantly and also help to fill gaps between the parts.

Smoothed the print by applying layers of automotive spray putty, sanding in between each coat, then spraying a couple of silver, red and white top coats. The decals are a 1/72 kit from Hawkeye Models Australia.

Attached the wings using plastic plugs and a piece of aluminium bar as a wing spar. Heating the aluminium bar on a gas stove made it hot enough to cut holes in the wing roots and through the fuselage; alignment was a bit tricky, so required extra care.

I was going to Super Glue the wings, but decided that leaving them as detachable could be handy for transporting the model if need be.

I designed the stand in Lightwave 3D, based on a stand I made previously for a Boeing 787 Dreamliner 3D printed model.
