3D printing settings
The demo was printed at 50% scale without supports and with a brim. However, adding slight support for the chin might improve the surface finish.
- Layer Height: 0.12-0.15mm for best surface finish.
- Scalability: Scalable down to 40%. Recommended size is 50-60% if scaled down.
- Infill: 15%.
- Brim/Support: Minor brim or support might be required depending on layer height.
- Fit Adjustment: If plugs are loose, scale them up by 1.5% or apply glue to the tip before installation.
- Washers: Install the appropriate washers as per the file name of the plugs; washers go into the slots in the plugs.
Notes
1. To achieve even tighter links, disable uniform scaling and increase the Z height of the washers by 2-3% before printing.
2. Print extra washers to have replacements on hand, as joints may wear out after months of use. Using PETG instead of PLA for the plugs and washers can also extend the life of the joints by three times.
