Windspinner Laminated Spindle

Here I show my new wind spinner "Laminated Spindle". Its 12 spiral, lamellar blades have a groove that catches the wind and makes the piece spin. The arrangement of the blades creates beautiful and interesting patterns when spinning, even from different angles. In this video you can see some spinners in action: https://youtu.be/e-_9_o0TyTY

You can scale and paint the piece as you wish and get very nice moving objects for your home or garden. It is best to hang the wind chime on a nylon thread, for example on a fishing line. This is very stable. You can hang the wind chime in front of the window, in a tree, on a canopy or over the radiator or near a stove, as it also works well with rising air indoors.

You can scale the spinner according to the capabilities of your printer. Scaled in the Z-axis, any version will look good.

I have created 2 STL files. One with the pure object, and a presupported version that works very well on my printers.

3D Printing Settings

I print all my pieces with 100µ, which requires little rework and little sanding. PLA or standard resins are suitable for printing. The spinner is about 16 cm tall and has a wingspan of about 14 cm. You can of course scale it according to your wishes.

Print it solid and without filling. Then it is the most stable. Please ensure good bed adhesion. Simply remove the support structures from the finished model and sand off the residue. If you want to use the Pure-STL version with your own supports, I recommend the "Tree" method with an overhang angle of 45°.

PLA works well with the FDM process and standard resin for resin printers.

I have 2 printers in operation: Ultimaker 2 extended and Phrozen Transform Fast.

Both excellent devices.

The settings for resin printing depend on the properties of your printer. Standard resins are suitable.
