Multi-purpose clip-on muzzle

An anti-Asian hornet muzzle, which also protects against entry into the hive, has a flight board extender, and an optional trap that retains the boldest hornets... and sometimes some males. This optional trap should be used judiciously during periods of high FA pressure. This device alone cannot guarantee total protection of the colony, but if used wisely, it should considerably reduce the pressure on colonies.

The fact that it can be installed and removed in a matter of seconds means that the right features can be used at the right time.

31/5/24: added the V3 cone which has a small bait reservoir and four holes so it can be suspended in a tree in isolation during spring trapping. Don't put bait when it's on the muzzle, of course.

July 2024: on the V108, a few material lightenings, and small clips to hold the jam jar holder laterally. On the V5 and 6 jar holders, the jar is offset upwards to avoid stress to the bees from hornets trapped just above the flight board. On the V6, the pot is replaced by an openwork structure that allows the bees to pass through. Only a lid is required. <Version tested for a full season.

Printed in PLA to avoid multiplying fossil-based plastic. Compared with other designs, I've thickened the walls so that the PLA prints properly. Layers of 0.2 to 0.3, printed with a raft to ensure that the parts go to the end without falling off in case of weak adhesion on the tray. No support required. Depending on your machine, allow around 15 hours for printing and around 200g of material. See photo for layout on tray and raft.

My pieces have made two full seasons, PLA (from elegoo or wholesaler3D) ages very well.
