About the Design
Designed using the exact dimensions and volumes of everyday cosmetics provided by a friend's girlfriend, this vertical, cylindrical makeup organizer was specifically created to keep bathroom counters neat and clutter-free. Because it was modeled around the real-world measurements of makeup brushes, mascaras, eyeliners, and tubes, it provides the perfect, tailored storage solution to keep them organized and easily accessible in an upright position. I expanded the initial concept to make it a highly solid and durable design for everyday use.
Note: A slimmer, scaled-down version optimized for carrying in a daily handbag is currently in the works and will be published to my profile in the future!
Through rigorous 3D printing tests, this design has been refined into two different versions (V1 and V2) to best suit your needs and printer settings.
Important Note on File Names
The file names are in Turkish. Files that do not have "v2" in their names belong to Version 1 (V1). Here is a quick translation guide for the provided STL files:
"Kutu kısmı": Box / Container part
"Kapak kısmı": Lid part
Version 1 (V1) The Heavy-Duty Model
Tolerance: The lid features a 0.2mm tolerance for a smooth and comfortable fit (initial tests with 0.1mm proved too tight for standard use).
Strength: The included 3MF file for V1 contains print profiles designed to make the box exceptionally rigid and sturdy (this is the solid, expanded version built to last).
Version 2 (V2) The Optimized Model
Geometry Update: The only difference in the raw STL geometry between V1 and V2 is the removal of the inner bottom fillet. In V1, high infill percentages caused a slight visible mark on the print due to this fillet, so it was removed in V2 for a cleaner finish.
Print Optimization: The wall count has been reduced from 4 to 3, providing a highly optimized, clean print without sacrificing necessary durability.
Bonus Lid Option: V2 includes an extra lid STL with a tighter 0.1mm tolerance for users who prefer a very snug, firm fit.
Bonus Scaled Version: The V2 3MF file also includes a ready-to-print version of the box scaled down to 50% on all axes.
🌟 Special Feature: Print-in-Place Tolerance Test!
To ensure you get the perfect fit without wasting filament, both the V1 and V2 3MF files include a small, cut-out test section of the design. You can print this tiny slice first to check if your specific 3D printer's tolerances are well-calibrated for the lid before committing to the full-size print.
Which version should I choose?
If you want an incredibly thick and solid box, print V1. If you prefer optimized print times, cleaner inner bottom layers, and want to experiment with a tighter lid tolerance, V2 is the way to go. For the best results, it is highly recommended to use the provided 3MF files.
