3D printer file info

3D model description

A colourful bird box styled as a gypsy bowtop caravan, crystal ball not included – the birds can bring their own.

Designed to print on a Ender3 bed size using single extrusion for all parts; even the front door can be printed two-tone by pausing the print at 4 mm and changing the filament colour.

3D printing settings

All parts are uploaded in the correct orientation for printing.

Print all the detailed parts at 0.2 mm, 25% infill.

The base and roof can be printed at thicker layers if your printer permits (this version was done at 0.4 mm layers on a 0.6 mm nozzle).

Scaffolding should not be required anywhere, although your bridging will need to work well when printing the maintenance hole in the base.

All assembly is push fit and super-glue with the exception of M3 screws to secure the maintenance hatch and perching post.

Remember to install the perch in the front panel before assembling (M3 bolt).

Then assemble the main bird box structure of front, roof and base parts. This may need a little finesse, and is probably dependent on printer calibration.

Do not glue the bow-front on until this step is complete.
