3D model description

β€’ The Ordnance QF 25-pounder, or 25-pounder, was the major British Field Artillery Gun which was extensively used during the Second World War. QF stands for Quick Fire, its calibre is 87.6 mm of 28 calibres length, and it fired a shell weighing 25 Pounds. It was the most outstanding field artillery gun in terms of ease of operation and versatility. It was introduced into service in 1940 and remained the British Army's primary artillery equipment into the 1960s. Many other countries used the equipment till as late as the nineties. Over 12,000 pieces had been manufactured. It was used by 47 countries including Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka. The 3D This Model is dedicated to this outstanding marvel of a Gun.

3D printing settings

β€’ This model prints to a Scale of 1:11, it can be printed to any scale desired while slicing. FDM Printer with PLA filament was used, though any other type of filament can be utilised. Polymaker Matte PLA Filament 1.75 Army Dark Green was used to print the model and gave a realistic finish. Any filament of choice may be used. Nozzle 0.4 mm, Layer Height 0.3 mm.
β€’ There are 34 components that must be printed as separate parts and assembled. An STL file for each of the parts has been included and starts with Part No as shown in the illustration. The Platform (28), Carriage Front (14), and Carriage Rear (15) will require support. Other parts can be aligned with the printer bed appropriately and printed without supports.
β€’ The detailed diagram showing the exploded view of the model is included. Sand and Finish each of the parts depending on the finish offered by your printer. Some interlocking parts may require more sanding depending on the accuracy of your printer.
β€’ Glue the parts using a normal cyanoacrylate or any other quick-drying glue. The following parts should be joined using metal screws: -
o Fix the Trunnion Clamps (9) should be fixed to the Saddle (10) using M3 Screws or small bits of 2mm wire.
o Fix the Shield Main (22) to the Shield Supports (20 & 21) using M3 Screws.
o Connect the linkages of the Platform Links (29, 30 & 31) to each other using M2 Screws.
o Fix the Platform Linkage 1 (29) to the Platform (28) using M3 Screw.
o Fix the Shield Main (22) to the Shield Top (24) using thin wire through the hinges. Alternatively, a thin strip of cellophane tape.
β€’ The model can be embellished with regimental markings, serial numbers, and so on.
