The steamship Venture II was a tramp steamer that transported mainly exotic animals around the world. In the remake by Peter Jackson, the ship was the main means of transportation to Skull Island. In the original, the Venture II was a general cargo freighter that entered service in 1956 as the Mypuck. After filming ended, the ship lay unused in Wellington for several years before being sunk as an artificial reef off the coast of New Zealand in 2010.
