Customizable Ion Arm (Spirit Full Scale Proton Pack)

All four variations of ion arms with various fittings and resistors.

• Dale resistor (with and without logo) and Sage resistor options.

• DaleRH-50 / Sage M50 resistor options to use them directly with 1/4" tubing inserted (snug fit) or with a brass nipple.

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS

• Ion Arm Cap: Remove the rod from the original ion arm by pulling it out from the bottom with a pair of pliers. Use a Dremel or hacksaw to cut one end 1" long, and other end 4.25". Use E6000 to glue the rod ends into the new ion arm cap. Use #10-32 socket cap screws to attach the cap to the ion arm. You can also use M5, which is very close in size (5mm vs 4.83 mm).

• GB1 Ion Arm Cap: There are two versions. One for the screen accurate square clippard, which has a smaller mounting hole, and one for the standard hex clippard if you cannot find a square one.

• Resistors: These are installed with #4-40 socket cap screws. You can also use M3, which is very close in size (3 mm vs 2.845 mm). They fit 5/32" / 4 mm (yellow wire) and 1/4" (blue wire) tubing such as the ones from the CharlesworthDynamics tubing kit (https://www.etsy.com/listing/764243002/proton-pack-tubing-spirit-full-size). The top opening on the long resistor will be a tight fit for the blue tubing, while the bottom opening will easily fit 1/4" wire loom.

• Clippard Elbow Fittings: Tubing is normally pushed onto a brass nipple for real ones, but to make the 3D fittings stronger, I opted to have them designed so that the tubing is inserted instead.

• Dummy Switch: This is screwed into the ion arm using four M2 socket cap screws.

GB3 / GB4 CABLE STRAIN RELIEFS

I've included pictures showing how you can use the cable strain relief from the GB3/ GB4 packs, which I have listed below. Use a Dremel or snips to cut the bottom off as shown. Wrap some electrical tape 20mm from the edge of your 1/4" tubing. You want it thick enough so that you can easily twist the strain relief onto it and have it be secure. Cut a 20 mm section of wire loom and slide it over the end.
