----The knight, the death and the devil----
Through the forest the old knight rode, lance in hand his horse controlled
To war he headed to serve his lord, to gain some honor to get some coin
Close behind him two figures followed, never absent in this world of ours
That they were there the knight he knew, but he ignored them the best he could
“There he goes this man again, to once more gamble his life in vain”
“He could choose in peace to be, in comfort to rest his mood to seat”
“But he instead to battle heads, to seek once more for futile wealth”
“In hell we have a place for him, for all eternity war to quench his thirst”
The devil said as death observed, with rotten eyes of dulled sense
How much truth had in his words, if only men to them weren’t so deaf
The death then looked at his sand clock, there was not much of it left
The devil tested his blade´s edge, for the soul he was about to collect
“The water down the river goes, the sea the shores slowly erodes”
“The rust the sword gently corrodes, the worms feast as the flesh forgoes”
“The time flows as it is due, for all that lives ceases to be”
“And for you old man it is time to go, oblivion´s shadow is soon to drop”
The death said as the devil looked, with wild eyes that had no soothe
How much truth had in his words, that was of men their greatest curse
To live knowing their demise shall meet, to exist only to one common fate
From the mightiest king to the poorest soul, oblivion awaits for them all
