It helps if you let the truck/ tracks sit out in the cold to acclimate so the snow doesn’t stick as much. I have also had good luck spraying some ice melt windshield washer fluid on the tracks, gears, idlers. I have always had the same issues with the traxxas trax. I designed some different shaped drive sprockets to see if it helps but the design I released worked the best

That is a fun idea, would look a lot like Dave sparks monster truck on tracks from the snowed in series on YouTube, but I think like Dave’s experience there would be issues using them on the Lmt. You would have to lock both of the axle diffs along with the center diff. The 3000kv system that comes in the rtr Lmt would not have the torque to turn tracks and would over heat quickly. It would require a large low kv motor and a small pinion gear. Most likely ran on 4-6s. The tracks would also leave the steering servo begging for mercy, the huge servo on the Scx6 doesn’t love it. But if you want to try it out I can grab some measurements and see if the wheel base of the Lmt is long enough so the tracks don’t hit each other

Hey so I've already switched out almost everything on my LMT to aluminum. and my servo the the reefs aluminum 500 servo. also I'm running the hobby wing max 8 system the KV is 2250kv and I am running 6s. I do already have the center diff fully locked with a spool. I really need to know the height to the center where these bolt onto the axle. I am trying to get around 3.5 inch of height or even higher this is my trail rig the more height the better for me. Also, my wheelbase is 15" mine was the king sling edition.

Also yep Dave is the inspiration for the build for sure. Just trying to take it another step forward with extreme clearance under the rig.

So from the bottom to the center of the wheel hex is just shy of 4 and a half inches and the tracks are a little over 11 inches long. At your 15 inch wheel base the front and rear tracks should not touch but I’m not sure about when turning. They will be close

I only have the one track design availible. He might have been running my older style tracks that were thicker and had more resistance than I liked.

Without owning an scxiii it would be very hard to design, but you could probably modify some traxxas tracks to work

That is fair, the Traxxas tracks don’t seem to do that well in snow though. I’ll tinker and see if I can come up with something. Thanks for the quick reply!

I left both sets of holes for more adjustability. The outer holes will let the track tip more for better climbing.

Just started track 2. Perfect print im very impressed.

Hmm when I was building I tested assembling with course thread (self tapping) and machine thread 3mm screws and had no issues with either style. That being said printing tolerances can be different from one machine to the next. If you run a 2.5mm drill bit (or 3/16) it should clearance the holes and allow enough meat for the threads to bite. Sorry it’s giving you issues and let me know if you run into any other problems.

I drilled them out a little bit and got them to work. The rocking undercarriage parts don't seem to want to rock too well even with bearings since they are sandwiched between the main outer plates, any suggestions there?

Hmm, the bearings should be pressed in flush. They don’t need to be loosey goosey, the truck is quite heavy and they will move like they are supposed to under the weight

im using vitavon portals and iv,e made it so they will work with them they take one more bearingon each track im working on the stop right now so i havent tested them yet willl let you know when done

I used 95a. They are a bit stiff at first but break in after some running. I am also test printing a new track with thinner bands to help with that. I’ll post them up as soon as I get them tested and they prove durable

Just to share my printer settings for a bit more flexible track.
95A TPU
Wall loops 1
Top and Bottom shell layers 3
Outer Wall .8
50% infill Adaptive cubic
These settings were used on all tracks with no issues. See my video for reference. They do loosen up nicely after a few runs. These settings also cut down print time and filament used.
