I printed this for my HMTECH 7in display. While you could use this screen with a Raspberry Pi, itâs just an HDMI capable screen you can use with anything. Also, the screen is not from the Raspberry Pi Foundation (they also make a 7in screen). The screenâs description on Amazon reads:
HMTECH 7 Inch Raspberry Pi Screen 800x480 HDMI Portable Monitor IPS LCD Display for 4/3/2/Zero/B/B+ Win11/10/8/7 (Non-Touch)
The Good:
The four posts in the back cover mate up with the holes in the PCB keeping the screen from moving around while sandwiched between the front and back covers. The case looks nice, provides some protection for the electronics that are normally exposed, and tilts the display at a good angle.
The Bad:
The models are provided at a goofy angle requiring some adjustment to get them to lay flat (so you donât have to use supports). The back cover is too tight for the screen; I cracked the port-side of the back cover when installing the screen. With no access to the inside of the back cover when installing the screen, itâs very difficult to line up the posts with the PCB holes.
Mods:
Using Tinkercad, I removed the port-side wall from the back model. This allowed me to visually line up the posts with the PCB holes and it afforded a better fit overall around the sides. When fully assembled, you hardly notice the missing side.
