Y-Splitter 60 mm, 45° branch

Y-piece for warm air ducting in campervans, motorhomes and vans. One 60 mm inlet, two 60 mm outlets, branching at 45°.

The branch angle is the point. A 90 degree tee costs far more pressure than a shallow Y. At 45° the flow follows the wall instead of tearing off at the edge, so the far branch still gets warm air.

The crotch between the two branches is radiused 8.0 mm / 5.6 mm. A sharp crotch is where a printed splitter cracks first and where the flow separates. Both problems are solved by the same radius.

Both ends are male spigots: the flexible duct slides over them and is held by a hose clamp. Each end carries a circumferential groove so a standard W4 clamp with 9 mm band centres itself and cannot slip off.

Combined outlet area is 200 % of the inlet area. Envelope 124 mm × 60 mm × 107 mm. The file is already saved in printing orientation. Do not rotate it, that is what keeps the part free of supports.

Check the fit first

Every download includes the tolerance test rings for the nominal sizes involved (60 mm). Three short rings at -0.2 / 0 / +0.2 mm: print them first, all on one plate, a few minutes. The ring that is snug but still slides on tells you your fit. Then print the real part and it fits first time.

Material

Commercial warm air ducting is rated to 130 C. Design to that, not to the air
temperature you measure at the outlet.

Tell me what you need

This range is generated from parametric code, not modelled by hand. A different nominal size, a different branch angle, a longer spigot, a mounting foot where you need one, a tighter or looser fit: for me that is a parameter and a rebuild, not a new design. Message me here on Cults and I will usually have your variant within a few days.

The same goes for criticism. If something does not fit, if a wall is too thin, if a dimension is wrong on your heater: tell me and I will correct it for everyone. Buyers of a corrected part get the new file automatically.

Cut-outs are a parameter too. If you want an opening in the lid or in the wall of a box for a switch, a USB socket, a voltmeter, a small display or a cable gland, I can put it in. Send me the dimensions of the part, or the manufacturer and type, or simply a link to the shop page you are buying it from. That is enough for me to place the cut-out where it belongs and give it the right clearance.
