what is the max inner size the box is? could an ipad fit? ipad dimensions are: 247.6 mm × 178.5 mm × 7.0 mm

I looked at the other comments and saw that it took 2kg of filament is there some settings I can change so it uses less filament or if not how much filament for just the original box and the first upgrade but not the second upgrade

I printed each piece exactly as they are coded,They all printed great and fit perfectly together.....until the screws. I am confused about how the screws could be fitting for other people. I am unable to put screws in the lid of box 1 (inner gift box) and still put the lid on box 2 and have the holes line up or even have the lid fit as it should. It's almost like the inner lid screws should be flush with the box to get them to nest properly?

I did purchase the upgraded kit as well, should I modify some screws that go on the lids of the nesting boxes or perhaps a different style of the screws for those? How did everyone else get them to fit together without monkeying with each file and making all kinds of changes?

I work in a high school and have some students wanting to print them for Christmas gifts. It would be very challenging to sit with each one to modify every piece? Any help would be appreciated before wasting too much time and filament trying to figure it out.

How much filament is need to print out the box?

Has anyone had issues printing Box 1 Container? I've had it fail 5 times at 6mm height. I've printed every other piece and 150 bolts without issue. Strange.

..You need to make different kinds of screws too...Phillips bit, star bit, square bit, allen screws...etc

Are there any instructions? I don't know how many screws of each type to print? It would have been nice to have the screws and screw drivers on on plate.

great box , easy to print .
nice and snug fit for me without adjusting anything. fits perfectly.

only thing is i find the tool flimsy.. i print in petg so its a little more flexible than pla and wont last without being deformed.. nothing problematic just print multiple tools or use a real driver

the only thing annoying about this box is trying to print it lol. its the first print in forever that has me redoing all my settings just to try to get a print that doesn't fail. attempt number (I lost count) is going now.

If you are having problems with tight fit do the following:
Box 1 container & lid: 100% scale
Box 2 container & lid: 101% scale
Box 2 sleeve: 102% scale
Box 3 top & bottom: 103% scale
This will ensure enough margin while everything still fits together nicely, including the bolts(printed 100% scale)

Hello. This box is a great idea....and i am trying to get it printed out. Printing box 1 container and lid went without issue. After printing box 2 container, box 1 really had a hard time fitting...it was very snug. I almost didnt think i would be able to get them apart but i eventually did. I sanded down round box 1 some and now it fits inside box 2 container. But. I printed box 2 sleeve and when fitting box 2 inside box 2 sleeve again very tight..i would say to tight. I was reading about XY size compensation below and setting it to -.1 to help fitting. Do all boxes need to be done this way from the beginning (would i have to start over printing everything) or can you print like box 2 sleeve with the XY size compensation to help box 2 container fit better? will that mess with any kind of screw alignment with box 3 container? would have to also print box 3 container using the same XY compensation to make the bolt holes align or will this not affect bolt hole alignment? I dont want to screw things up because i might not have enough filament to finish the box if i have to reprint things and will not be able to get more before i need the finished box. I also got the additional improved annoying box to over this one and i guess same question...if i start to use XY compensation on this box will i have to continue using it on all the rest? Sorry i am still new to 3d printing and have not printed many things that fit this tight together and have never needed to use the XY compensation. Thank you

Do I add horizontal compensation to the box 2 sleeve or take away from box 2? I have been having issues with the sleeve being too tight

Printed the parts in three separate prints. It took about 3-4 days, but it came out beautifully!!! I used the bolt with 2 square holes... just to be sure that the person I'm giving it to doesn't pull out a screw gun and take it apart in 5 minutes. If you change anything, the bolt-driver is a little small for fat fingers. I like the simple design that makes it look like a clock key, but there were a few times I was afraid that the little key would break off in the holes.

Overall, I am very happy with this design, and I did not have any problem getting all the pieces and holes to line up perfectly.

The design on this is so tight that any minor deviation in printing will result in a box that won't go together! I've fought this for about a month now and have some notes:

box_1_container doesn't need to be the exact dimensions of the inside of box_2_container. 1 mm less would allow it to slide in and out easily.
box_1_container + box_1_lid is the exact inside height of box_2_container. That means any mistakes fitting the two together telegraph out to whether or not they'll both fit completely flush inside box_2_container. I had so many issues I ended up leaving box_1_lid out completely and just using the bolts to hold box_1_container in place.

box_2_sleeve could be 1mm larger, again for ease of fitting.

box_2_lid has a channel cut into it that's designed to fit over a lip on top of box_2_container. That channel should be much wider so the lip fits. Better yet, remove the channel and the lip entirely and let box_2_lid sit flat on top of box_2_container! The bolts will hold it in place anyway. Because of that channel and that lip, box_3_top will not fit flush over everything.

The bolts should be 5% smaller. They should fit loosely, especially since they're plastic! Most would not screw flush and so many broke off as I was trying to get things aligned.

I read in the comments that you set your dimension tolerances to within 0.3mm. I believe you should increase that to 1mm to account for all the different printers out there.

Is it X-Y contour compensation needs changed or hole compensation for the sleeve to not fit too lightly? Need to hit with a hammer to currently to get it to come apart 😂

I have purchased the really annoying box. I’ve printed it twice using two different filaments each time however the sleeve STL is far too tight when I get it on it’s far too tight can’t get it off again. Printing on Bambu P1S any suggestion on how i can fix this within Bambu studio?

love this printed a few to annoy some family who like to over tape all their gifts (note if you upscale everything to 125% you can fit a nice deck of cards inside)

Is anyone else having problems with the box 2 sleeve bolt holes getting closed up and also not aligning with the box 1 container? Even using the default Microsoft STL viewer, it shows the bolt holes are closed up along the inner wall. The holes also do not align. They appear offset to esthetically fill the width of the sleeve face instead of staying consistent with the inner box screw hole pattern.

I have a question about how I can set this correctly, everything else was printed without any problems.

Filling quantity is clear to me but I don't understand the parimeters

Filling/perimeter: 15% filling + 2 perimeters, 3 perimeters for bolts and screwdrivers.

I use the Bambu Lab printer and the Bambu Lab slicer.

For some reason when I print it the tolerances are too tight, and have to knock them into place but then it's too tight to separate.

Currently printing this and the upgrade for my brother (we´ve been gifting each other 10€ for every christmas and birthday in the worst containments possible). Looking forward to see his reaction :D Files work perfectly fine, great tolerances, fit like a charm. Money well spend.

Great overall, though the bit drivers seems really flimsy and all ended up breaking during assembly, which meant I had to go in with a plier to take out all the security bits before I give it away so they have a fart's chance in a windstorm of opening it. I definitely recommend sticking with the flathead only if you're not going be giving them the necessary actual metal screwdrivers with it as well. seems like the hex drivers don't maintain dimensions unless printed vertically, which makes them weak, and the Philips suffers from the same layer adhesion issues in the default print orientation.

what is the dimension of the inside? want to see if i can fit like a phone or a apple pencil in it
