Historical & Technical Background
The OE 155 56/69 is a French-designed high-explosive artillery projectile that traces much of its form and proportions to earlier U.S. ordnance. After WWII, French engineers reverse-engineered and adapted several American 155mm shell bodies for domestic production. The OE 155 56/69 emerged as a modernized derivative—retaining the proven ballistic profile while incorporating French manufacturing standards, updated metal treatments, and compatibility changes for locally produced boosters and fuzes.
As NATO interoperability grew, many units later field-modified these projectiles using adapter collars for U.S.-pattern point-detonating fuzes such as the M556. This blend of French shell design with American fuzing allowed widespread export, standardized logistics, and simplified training for multinational artillery units.
This model bundle recreates the full configuration—shell + extended booster + US fuze adapter + M556 fuze—as commonly documented in service and training environments.
