Another variant of the A-2 Devastator, the Automaton Heavy Devastator is the larger cousin of the A-1 MG Raider. Their primary offensive weapon is the heavy laser repeater, typically used defensively by raider weapon teams. Single-user portability for the weapon is only possible due to the robust frame of the A-2, which carries the repeater in place of its right forearm, and the power source upon its back. The left arm carries a large shield that protects most of the Heavy's silhouette. With an armor rating matching the Automaton Hulks, their shields are impervious to small-arms fire. Even direct hits from an IFV's autocannon can be deflected under the right circumstances.

Heavy Devastators are often seen advancing alongside Raider infantry in frontal assaults, providing suppressive fire and taking cover behind their shields. Defensively, a Heavy can easily hold choke points or high ground against enemies that lack dedicated anti-tank weaponry.

The most notable weakness of the Heavy is the power cell it carries. Heavy laser repeaters require a large power source to function. Raider weapon teams are able to keep these cells protected within their trenches and bunkers, but the cell’s placement upon the Heavy’s back leaves it exposed if the unit is flanked. Critical damage to the cell will detonate it in a volatile explosion, usually disabling the Heavy.
