This is a free sample from my set of modular trench terrain pieces, designed for games of Trench Crusade, but are suitable for Bolt Action, or any other 28-32mm scale tabletop game.
There are 36 designs in total, are broken into the following groups:
6x Open pieces with no trench connections
6x End pieces with a single trench connection
6x I shaped pieces with two trench connections on opposite sides
6x L shaped pieces with two trench connections on adjacent sides
6x T shaped pieces with three trench connections
6x X shaped pieces with four trench connections
The full set can be found here: https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/sapperware-modular-trench-system
The tiles are 298mm by 298mm (~12") squares, and 60mm high, although some tiles are taller due to structures on them.
The trench is a bit over 50mm deep and wide enough at the bottom to fit a 40mm base, so heavy infantry can squeeze in there. Most infantry should be completely hidden inside the trench, while monsters will struggle to move through the narrow trenches and completely hide from view.
The firing steps are 25mm high and wide enough for a 32mm base to fit comfortably.
The sides of the tiles that don't connect to the trench network have some trench wall detail indented on the side, so it looks okay if you need to terminate a trench against them.
Printable Scenery have kindly allowed me to use their OpenLOCK system for this project. There are two connectors on each face, allowing you to connect the tiles together if you find they get bumped around your table during play. I've included an OpenLOCK connector .stl in this pack.
I've also included a set of tiles split into quarters (149mm, or ~6"), suitable for smaller printers and easier storage. These have extra OpenLOCK connectors to keep them all together.
This trench network is not historically accurate and is only meant to provide interesting gameplay situations.
I've left the walls and floor of the trenches intentionally clear. I recommend printing (using resin if possible) shrines, signs, ammo boxes, piles of lumber, and whatever other scatter details that can be glued in place to really theme the trenches.
Most tiles do not require supports, although some will (particularly the Cross, and some of the Ruins).
I recommend applying a layer of coarse texture gel over the top of the no-mans-land. This really helps enhance the final design with minimal effort.
I'll be making an accessory pack soon, with all sorts of barricades, bridges, sandbag walls, and other scatter terrain to add more variety to the board.
I'm interested in making more tiles in the future, so please comment or send me a message if you have any ideas for cool designs you'd like to see.
