Assume that there is one IT group for the entire company or the entire division. IT management should set up meetings with each department to find out which projects are needed for the entire year. This may or may not include projects continued from the prior year and projects that may take more than one year to complete. Get as much information about the project as possible at the initial meeting. Remember that this is just a budget meeting, so you do not need complete details. All departments should understand that although they may want all of their IT needs fulfilled, resources are finite.
