3D model description
High resolution, high detail scan of Neil Armstrong's Apollo 11 Space Suit. spacesuit.stl is 950,000+ polys. spacesuit_simplified_geofixed.stl is 600,000+ polys.
These models originated with the Smithsonian 3D Digitization Project. However, the models provided by the Smithsonian were of "thin wall" construction, and were unprintable. You are paying for this re-engineering.
These models retain the insanely high-resolution of the original models, but have been engineered to be solid body modeled. You may choose your desired infill settings.
The photo models were printed on a resin printer and were post-processed.
3D printing settings
For best results, print standing on feet.
Minimally, you will need supports for each finger of the gloves. Furthermore, if printing large-scale, you may need inter-model supports for bottom of face shield and other suit details.
Obviously, the larger the print, the better the detail. I have printed FDM at 7cm and 18cm high. I printed on a resin printer and produced mind-blowing detail at 20cm high.
