This bogie set is designed to be compatible with the model railway gauge I am using for my stop motion mine trolley (https://cults3d.com/en/various/mine-trolley-prop-for-stop-motion) and mine truck (http://www.techmonkeybusiness.com/another-3d-printed-mine-truck.html). At this scale the track gauge is 36mm between the inside edges of the rails. These bogie sets will be used in a number of other projects but I felt that as a standalone project they might be useful to others. The overall dimensions of a single bogie are; 62mm wide, 80mm long, and 25mm high. I have a 1:24 scale version of this here: (https://www.youmagine.com/designs/1-24-scale-powered-bogie-set)
The details were designed based on a large number of powered bogies for railcars, and diesel locomotives. I wanted to create a bogie set that looked plausible. I was also keen for the arrangement to give the impression of being an electrical drive.
The models here include the Blender model. I created it in Blender 2.58 and so you will find there are no problems with using this model in any of the 2.5+ versions of Blender.
Extra things you will need are;
some Ø4mm rod of some sort.
An M4 nut and bolt.
For the axles I use wooden dowel, but anything will do. The axle lengths are about 54mm long.
The nut needs to be installed in the top cross spar early in the assembly. I would suggest gluing it into the socket.
No support is required. There are some break-off bits on a couple of the motor components.
The filenames include the number of times you will need to print of each bit.
Nothing special. There is no need for support, and all prints work nicely even at relatively coarse settings.
All parts are smaller than 80mm long and so can be printed on printers with quite small print volumes too.
Most parts will print in less than 20 minutes.
