3D model description

This is inspired by the papier-mâché mold of XYZAidan.

I wrote some quick OpenSCAD code that takes a shape (as an OpenSCAD module, possibly itself imported from an STL) and gives you the three parts of the mold for the shape.

This file is obviously not intended for use “as is”; rather, replace the gadget module by your preferred item. A thin documentation is provided in the source code, and I included a STL for a short Brio rail as a proof-of-concept (don't print this though, as the STL includes the rail itself). (I think that Brio rails are one of the best applications for recycled cardboard, since with only one or two molds you can build a whole circuit of them. Duplo bricks would be great too, if it were possible to get the tolerances right).

Since this uses a lot of Minkowski sums (two- and three-dimensional), the computation is probably somewhat intensive. (This would be simpler if OpenSCAD had Minkowski sum with a one-dimensional object).
