3D model description
This is my Igloo Enclosure for the Bambu P1P. It's main feature is the 270 degree fold back door that gets out of the way when printing PLA. The acrylic windows are super easy to make using the score and break method. There are no additional slots or holes needed in the plexiglass. This also makes it much easier to use polycarbonate for better insulation.
3D printing settings
I have included a file called "Igloo Enclosure Sliced.3mf" That is already setup for printing with bambu or Orca slicer on your P1P. Recommended material is PETG. Printing the enclosure uses about 1.5kg of material. I recommend that you use a temporary enclosure of some sort while printing.
Hardware Required:
Acrylic or polycarbonate windows
1/8" or 3mm thick
Sides and Front Windows:
3x 270.40 mm (10.646 in) x 368.80 mm (14.52 in)
Top Window (Optional use of 4.5mm or 6mm thick)
1x 350.00 mm (13.78 in) x 345.00 mm (13.583 in)
8x M3x6 Heat Set Inserts
8x M3x8 Screws
6x 6mm diameter x 3mm Magnets
If you do not want to source and cut your own windows, Acrylic and Polycarbonate cut to size are available here from a 3rd party: https://www.ebay.com/itm/256016532460
Instructions:
When importing parts to your slicer, make sure you import as "single object having multiple parts." There are bridges between the parts to provide additional support for successful printing. If imported as multiple items these will be misplaced.
Once printed, snip off the bridges and remove support.
Put in the Heat Set inserts
Glue in magnets
Assemble side panels, doors, and top window with superglue. Don't forget to insert your plexiglass panels! You may want to test fit to the printer before applying glue and make sure your holes line up.
Assemble side panels to P1P
Snap hinges into hinge pockets on the left side panel. Snap door onto hinges.
You will need to re-route the bowden tube through the opening in the back of the P1P frame.
Magnet on the back pannel and place the top window in place.
Your Igloo enclosure is complete! Enjoy printing the wide range of materials that your P1P is now capable of printing!
