The knobs were designed to prevent the bed level from shifting due to inadvertently bumping the stock Ender 3 knobs. I have a BLTouch so once the bed was level I never wanted to touch it again.
Once the knobs and lock washers are installed the bed can still be adjusted, but the teeth in both the knob and the washer provide a tactile click, and prevent slippage
I think these are best printed in PETG as they are more durable, and PETG tends to be a little more slippery making the operation of the knobs smoother
The knob contains a cutout for a captive M4 nut that should be inserted mid print at 11.4mm (11.45mm at 0.15mm layer height). I used the Prusa ColorChange web app to automate this. That can be found here: https://blog.prusaprinters.org/color-print/
I printed the the knobs separate from the washers at 0.15mm layer height and 50% infill.
The washers were printed ridge side down and required supports. I did this to maintain the detail of the washer teeth. Printed at 0.15mm layer height and 100% infill
