3D model description

This frictionless spool holder for the Ender series stands out from the rest with its easy printing, easy to assemble design. Using the existing side mounted arm, it seamlessly attaches to your printer. Works for other printers too!

Designed to use four 608 bearings, this spool holder enhances your printer in two ways. One, it reduces strain on the extruder gear and stepper, and two, it stops the spool from rocking back and forth with retraction moves, greatly enhancing printer stability.

UPDATE: I’m finding in comment sections that people say spools like to unwind on frictionless holders. I've tested these on two separate printers rigorously. I've never had a problem.

UPDATE: I’ve used this spool holder for over a year on a printer that almost never stops. It has never unspooled my filament, and I absolutely love it.

UPDATE: I've added textures to the outside roller piece, that match textures of other Ender 3 Max mods I've created. Those mods can be found in my profile, and they are the hotend cover and the X stepper cover.

UPDATE: I've added the "Spool Adapter" file which fits very well all the cardboard filament spools I've tested them on.

3D printing settings

I recommend at least 3 walls, and 20% infill. I printed this with pink esun PLA+. Needs minimal supports.

There is a little tolerance for different levels of extrusion, but not much. If you're over-extruding, you may have trouble with assembly.

Some parts, such as the wedge, may need light sanding to fit well. I have included an instructional STL you can open in your slicer or CAD program to aid in assembly.

IMPORTANT: Make sure to line up the tab on the socket connector so that the spool holder is upright when you tighten it into the arm. I recommend tightening the socket piece into the arm and glue it in place so the rollers are level.

NEW TEXTURE PACK:
The outer roller, (OR 1) includes several textures from the texture pack included with other models in my mod pack. Link in the description.
