3D model description

Silicone socks for your 3D printer are expensive! Why not make your own? With this easy-to-use mold, 4 individual silicone socks can be cast at once! No more waiting hours to make one at a time.

The cavities are not connected by any sprues, so you'll have to inject the silicone into each of the four “outside” holes (that aren't screw holes). I marked the ideal holes with a diamond shape in the STL. These are the holes that are closest to the outside edge of the mold.

There are cavities for 6 M3 hex nuts on the bottom part of the mold, and there are square cavities in the internal part of the mold ("Inside" STL) to slide in square M3 nuts.

Supplies:
- 6x Square M3 Nuts
- 6x 25mm M3 Screws (must not be larger/longer)
- 6x Hex M3 Nuts
- 6x 30mm or longer M3 Screws
- Silicone Rubber (see below*)

* I recommend using MoldStar 31T or Smooth-Sil 945 from Smooth-On, I've had good success with this kind of silicone rubber.

Notes:

  • I've already oriented the parts as they should be printed. The “inside” and “sides” prints have hand-positioned manual supports to ensure the sideways pins which fit into the cores are supported. They must be printed in this position, because if they are printed vertically, the little pins/points will simply break off.

  • You must print 4 of the “core” STL models.

  • There are tiny embossed “dots” in one corner of one vertical surface of all the models. This makes it easy to align them to a common corner.

3D printing settings

0.20 - 0.25mm Layer Height (Important)
No Supports (they're already integrated)
