NEW VERSION AVAILABLE HERE: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3483522
This device replaces the two bolts/cable ties mechanism for fixing the ANET A8 x-belt to the extruder carriage. It allows very quick tension adjustments without the need for complicated tensioning mechanisms.
This is a ground-up remake of the part designed by BoldBadger that I built in TinkerCAD.
I loved the simplicity of BoldBadger's design, but the inwardly repositioned gripper mounts made it impossible for me to fit without buying a longer belt (I obviously cut mine too short). My take on the design is to move the gripper mounts outwards, back in line with the original bolts so you can use your existing belt.
There are two versions: The first version was based on BoldBadger's dimensions, which needs a M3 x 12mm bolt; the second uses the existing M3 x 18mm without the need for nuts as spacers.
The grippers are really tight, but the belt will fit. Try feeding one tooth. Push the belt right into the groove. I used a 6" metal ruler which is ideal.
This design overhangs the edges of the extruder carriage by 2mm either side. This does not affect it any way, but looks unfinished to me. I will probably provide a flush version later if it is a big issue.
