After trying several methods.. I still thought it was possible to put a 5kg roll on top of a CR-10, CR-10min, and possibly an Ender3.. After several versions and many prints. I came up with a holder that does work.. and very well.. Even though the initial photo shows non rounded corners, it now has rounded corners.
the key to its success is 8mm threaded rod that is 22cm long (can be cut to lenght) and the bearings (regular 608 skate board bearing). Although I do clean the bearings first and lube them to have them spin fast. This way there is pretty much zero friction when the large roll is on the printer.
