Antique sword ring designed for metal casting and metal 3D printing.
Most rings are modelled with a US size = 8 (Diameter = 18.14mm approx.), so when scaled up there will not be any problem with wall thickness especially for most metal 3D printing.
To scale up a ring to fit your finger size, I recommend using Meshmixer, a free software from Autodesk.
All published models are sold for personal use. Please contact me if you would like to purchase any model for commercial use.
If you would like a custom ring, jewellery item or any model, please contact me.
If you would like to get a ring with a similar polish/finish as in the rendered ring image (with dark cavity), print the ring with vintage/antique silver. As far as I know, it is only available right now from i.materialise. There are other methods also to do it at home if printed in silver. Search YouTube for "how to oxidize silver at home."
NOTE: To keep my account on Cults dedicated to only jewelry for the purpose of organization, I have moved all of my other free models to my account on Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/Double_Alfa/designs
I started modeling back in the early 90s with Autodesk 3D Studio, when it used to ship with 16 3.5 floppy disks. Later I started using Maya, ZBrush, Fusion 360 and recently Modo, with the aid sometimes of Adobe illustrator and Photoshop mainly for creating alpha brushes/shapes.
Still fascinated with the evolution of 3D printing, as back then models were eventually stored in folders and that's it. To print however those created 3D models, physically see them, touch them and place them right in front of you on the desk with different colors and materials, is simply magical.
3D printing is a modern revolution, a movement as some like to call it, and I'm very glad to live it and be part of it, knowing that we are just starting, and that one day we will be laughing at the current FDM plastic filament based printers for being an old primitive technology.
HP Fusion Color 3D printers will be on our desks one day with the price of current multicolored documents/images printers. No doubt about it.
