Design steps

If you would like to know how i design a 2D picture (google) into a 3D model.
Use this link:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6cmClwLhz8 (video* is under 6 min.)

use this link to download blender for free: https://www.blender.org/download/

use this link to download inkscape for free: https://inkscape.org/nl/download/

-the shortcuts will appear on your desktop-

'Positive' coaster:

Pick a logo from your browser and put it in svg format in inktscape (see video*). Open the svg file in blender and make it a 3D object (STL). Now first open the template coaster with notch in meshmixer (free). Then import (append) the 3D model and select 'ýes' to automatically resize this model to match your coaster with notch. In meshmixer you can repair the file, using the 'Inspector' button under the 'analysis' tab. Scale/move/combine the image of the logo to the coaster. After fixing the coaster in netfabb your done!

'Negative' coaster:

Pick a logo from your browser and put it in svg format in inktscape (see video*). Open the svg file in blender and make it a 3D object. I use 123D design (free) to substract the 3D model of the flat coaster template. First i scale the logo in meshmixer, by opening a coaster first and than the logo afterwards to automatically scale it to match a coaster. I Save only the resized logo and fix it in netfabb for a better result in 123d Design (Netfabb Online Service is a free STL repairing service). Select the substract function in 123D design, and than click on the coaster, than the logo and enter. Simple logo's can be substracted easily this way in 123D design. After fixing the coaster in netfabb your done!

Always preview your creation in your slicer (I use the free program Cura)
