3D model description

Spherez are cool little storage container for small things that are unique and visually interesting. The outer shell rotates freely 360° to open and close the opening into the centre storage section. A simple, fun and practical storage solution for anything and everything from coins to jewellery, nuts/bolts/screws, keys, stationery items and much more. Great to use yourself or as a small 'unique' gift. And, they look good printed in any color.

This is and easy and worthwhile one-piece-print that takes a while to print.... the Spherez outside diameter at standard scale is 80mm. The internal storage area has a diameter of approx. 72mm. This can be scaled up or down a small amount if required however and scaling will affect clearances that may affect the result (parts fusing or being too loose).

The design also features a circular groove in the base. This will accept and retain a common small 3mm square section rubber band so the print is far less likely to move around on the surface it is being used on. The rubber band creates a degree of surface tension / grip so it will not slide so easily. This is very handy as it enables users to rotate the outer shell (with a small amount or downward force) without the need to hold the base part which may otherwise also want to rotate to some extent.

There is a designed in support ring that can be cut / snapped away easily post printing. With a well sliced file printed on an accurate, well set up machine, this should be a quick and easy process that will take less than 30 seconds... then the outer shell should break free with minimal effort / pressure (to start it's rotation) and spin straight away. Refer to the images provided for additional information.... and don't worry about 'designed in support' as it works fine for almost everyone with a precise slicing app and well set up machine!

This has been test printed lots of times to ensure most members will get a great result.

The rubber band system works great provided you get the right thickness rubber band and it has a moderate amount of tension on it around the groove. This tension helps hold it in place.
