This is a simple low polygon heart shaped box. It’s a two piece snap-fit together container that can be used for storing treats, LEDs, components, screws or anything special.
It’s just two parameters thick and can be printed in under 15 minutes (depending on your print speed).
This was printed using a single extruder. Different colored filaments are switched during the print job. Using 1 layer for the bottom and 0 layers for the top, you can see through the first layer when it’s printed in translucent filament. The triangles and honeycomb patterns are not drawn in the CAD model but actually generated by the slicing software. You can use different infill percentages to create high or low density patterns.
We chat about the design on the prototyping segment of the 3D Hangouts show on YouTube.
Adafruit was founded in 2005 by MIT engineer, Limor "Ladyada" Fried. Her goal was to create the best place online for learning electronics and making the best designed products for makers of all ages and skill levels.
