3D model description
My parents’ 50th and my in-laws’ 60th wedding anniversaries inspired me to make commemorative displays and I needed something to hang them. Now my own family also has a Hanging Holder Hook and we have used it for Happy Birthday wishes and a new Christmas decoration. These additional hangings have been good gifts for the grandparents too that they can use with their Hanging Holder Hook. I hope to make more seasonal and celebratory hangings throughout the year!

Notes about Model Pieces
The base and the stick print separately and the stick screws into the base. The stick has two versions. It may be printed whole, but it will then need supports. I found it is faster and uses less waste to print the stick in two pieces. The threads are cut off level with the rest of the stick so it all prints flat with no supports. I then print the cut off threads separately. Just pinch the threads pieces together as you start to screw in the stick and they will hold together inside the base without glue. Note that the cut stick will screw in without the separate piece, but then there will be a gap within the screw hole. Also, I included two versions of the threads piece since once printed it is difficult to know which way it lines up. One model has a “notch” that is toward the TOP of the piece. That makes it easier to align, so I recommend using that one.
This model is based on a hook that was used for displaying some other art.
3D printing settings
Base
The base is 100 x 100 x 25 mm in size. I printed with 0.15 mm layer height, 4 solid top and bottom layers, and 6 outline/perimeter shells. I used 15% infill for the first 22 mm of height then used a second process to set infill to 30% for the rest of the print to make sure the top was smooth. I used a raft so that it would be easier to remove from the build plate, because I anticipated that this would be tough. (However, in an earlier iteration, too dense of infill at the bottom made it difficult to remove from the raft. What I described above worked best for me.) No supports.
Stick
The stick is 277.53 mm tall, 112.53 mm deep, and approximately 4 mm thick not counting the thickness of the screw threads. I rotated it 90 degrees about the y-axis (to lay flat) and 134 degrees about the z-axis to get it to fit along my print bed diagonally. I printed with 0.15 mm layer height, 100% infill, and set it to have 3 solid top and bottom layers and enough outline/perimeter shells so the top layers would fill in with only perimeters.
Thread Piece
I rotated it -90 degrees about the y-axis to lay flat (and -44 degrees about the z-axis to match the angle of the stick print). I used the same print settings as I did for the stick.
Update: When printing this on a different printer, the hook was quite loose. I increased the x and y scale to 108% on the Stick and Thread Piece, but left the z-scale the same so the threads would still align with the threads inside the base. (Rescaling was done while the models were in the original standing up orientation.) This technique worked well and it fit much better.
