Halloween Character Signs

So cute! These Halloween Character Signs have high impact and are easy to print with dual extrusion, single extrusion with one filament swap, or as individual characters without the background disks. Great for decorations or other Halloween activities!

Models scale very well to larger or smaller sizes. Also, models are all solid, but I made slicer adjustments for the mesh effects. See Printing Settings below for details.

Seven designs included and the model for the back is included with and without the hanging loop. Hanging signs designed to fit with my free Hanging Holder Hook.

Signs:

Model disks are approximately 195 mm in diameter. Loop back is approximately 213 mm long. Disk models and character models are each 1 mm thick. Models are set to align together, therefore if you print only the characters (without a disk) the model origins are raised from the bed by 1 mm.

I printed the large ones at 100% scale. Also shown in photos are examples of 50% and 25% scale for x and y. I kept the z at 100% scale to maintain thickness.

For the mesh-style disk backs I printed with 40% “Full Honeycomb” infill, 0 top and bottom layers, and 2 outline/perimeter shells. Everything was printed with 0.25 mm layer height.

For the character models, I used 90% “Full Honeycomb” infill, 0 top layers, and 2 bottom layers. For these 1 mm models at 0.25 mm layer height, this yields two layers that are solid and then two layers with a more textured look.

Solid layer printing works well too, however using the mesh makes the final print lighter weight, reduces print time, and saves filament. And it makes a fun artistic effect!

Stands:

I designed a stand that works well for my Flat Jacks and they work well for these Character Signs printed at 50% xy-scale. The stands print quickly and fit well behind the circular backing. I printed the stands with 0.2 mm layer height, 2 perimeters, 4 solid top and bottom layers. No raft. No supports.

For the 100% scale prints, the taller stand from my Star Wars WordCloud works great! That model is included here. Note that the WordCloud stand is designed to print on its side with a little bit of support between the holding pegs. A raft may help too. I printed with 0.3 mm layer height, 2 perimeters, and 3 top and bottom layers.

(I also tried printing this taller stand model at 58.82% for the smaller Flat Jacks and it works well for the small Character Signs too, but I do not have a photo here.)
