3D model description

Two-sided Gingerbread Ornament for the holidays! I placed a gingerbread person outline on a tablet computer for my daughter (age 7) and son (age 4) to decorate. My daughter used the tablet pen to draw the details for the side that has the bow. My son then wanted his to “look like my sister's” and mimicked her design with several “undo, let’s try again” moments.

The “frosting” is one model and the “cookie” another. It printed with the boy side down on the print plate. So that the frosting would be raised, the white printed first for a millimeter then the cookie printed on top. I used bridging to print the cookie without support, but I would likely use tiny supports for a cleaner surface if I printed them again.

Great holiday gifts for family and friends.

3D printing settings

The ornament is approximately 87 x 115 x 5 mm in size. There are three models: Frosting, Cookie, and Loop. I made the loop a separate model so I could print it with a different process for supports. Below are my general print settings for each process.

Frosting
0.2 mm layer height, 3 top layers, 3 bottom layers, 2 outline/perimeter shells, 25% infill, no raft, no support

Cookie
0.2 mm layer height, 3 top layers, 3 bottom layers, 1 outline/perimeter shells, 10% infill, no raft, no support (used bridging, but likely short supports would create a nicer surface.)

Loop
0.2 mm layer height, 3 top layers, 3 bottom layers, 3 outline/perimeter shells, 25% infill, no raft, included supports
