Don Lemon

3D model description

Don Lemon is taking a nap right now, but at any time, he's ready to help you prepare a good lemon juice for the aperitif and/or your best culinary preparations.

#STARTCULTS

My humorous side took over, seeing immediately, the Sombrero represented by the citrus press, at the exit of the 3D Printer machine. It is intended to replace the lid of a jar of jam of a well-known brand in our country (in English "Good Mother", for those who have not guessed!) So after your next breakfast, put the empty jar aside: -)

The basic idea was UpCycling, since the purpose of the competition is, and I quote:

"Demonstrate how the 3D printer is a great innovation that can be used to improve everyday life and consume more responsibly! "

I immediately had the idea of using glass jars and giving them a new life, in order to avoid waste.

And then I developed the character side, all I needed was the arms like a cross, then the shoes, to make it my character. Then came the idea of sand, to locate Mexico more easily and the cactus, which was to present the lemon.

There is really only one part that must be printed in filament with food properties (for my part, I used orange PETG from Dailyfil).

The sand could also be printed with this type of filament, for use as a small citrus cutting board).

In terms of colours, each Maker can have fun creating his own palette on this small diorama to personalize it.

Once the parts are printed, just glue the arms, then the shoes with a good hot glue gun (the ancestor very little evolved, 3D printing FDM!!!!).

I recommend using the "sand" part to keep the shoes in the right place on the jar after gluing while the glue cools, like a template.

All you have to do is screw Don Lemon's Sombrero in, like a jar lid, clockwise!

I chose my filament colors to give a maximum of pep (just like the acidity of citrus fruits) and to match between the yellow of the sand and the green of the lemon (chosen this color, because it evokes certain festive cocktails, and to contrast with the color of the sand, which I could hardly change)

Have a good time!!!!!

3D printing settings

PRINTING SETTINGS:

(to be respected as best as possible for an optimal result)

Nozzle diameter: 0.4 mm (This seems to me to be suitable for most FDM machines currently on the market, just like the 3D-START Machine).

Layer height: 0.2 mm.

Wall Thickness: 0.8 mm (depending on nozzle diameter, ideally a wall with 2 print head passages for good resistance). The design of the parts has been optimized for these plastic thicknesses

Fill rate: 25%.

Top and Bottom Thickness: 0.6 mm

Brim: YES

Support: NO, except for arms and cactus

Hanging on a tray covered with BuildTak (which is my case) or a heating tray, recommended.

INDICATIVE PRINTING TIME:

3h for the citrus press (Lemon Sombrero.stl)

2h for the 2 arms with support filament (Left Arm.stl and Right Arm.stl)

1 hour for both shoes (Left Shoe.stl and Right Shoe.stl)

5h for sand (Sand.stl)

2h for cactus (Cactus.stl)
