Have a spare set of christmas lights around?
Follow the 3d print instructions under Print settings.
Once printed, you will also need:
- At Least 200 count string LED lights. (there are approx 180 flowers.) If you are using traditional incandescent lights you will need to resize the model on your own, this is sized for LED lights, which are slightly smaller, safer, and more durable to work with.
- 200 to 300 count small clear rubber bands (search for small clear hair elastics online or at a drug store)
Simply put the light through the center of the flower, and then secure a rubber band around the light so it doesn't fall out. Use more than one rubber band if needed. work your way around in a circular spiral and it should all fit snug into the lamp ball.
Once they are all in, you can use the remaining length of string light to loop through the string lights inside the center of the lamp before hanging it to make sure it's secure, or If you want something more visually appealing use your own ribbon or rope
Print the model such that the open end of the model (the area where the flowers are missing) are at the bottom, towards the print bed. this ensures that supports will be made for the top of the dome of the print.
Then print with:
- 0% infill (not that there is much infill to begin with)
- Supports touching the bed. (don't do everywhere otherwise you'll have supports in the ball that would be difficult to remove)
