3D model description

VR PDW/RIFLE MK4 with interchangeable magnetic holder for Oculus Rift-S / Quest

Limited-time Offer! Only now at an introductory price!

Get that feeling of a gun in your hand and better aiming when playing FPS VR games like Onward, Pavlov, Contractors, Zero Caliber, etc.

STL files are correctly oriented and are easy to print! The VR rifle is easy to assemble! Seems like the 3D Preview here in Cults3D is broken because they look really strange.

Realistic look with details like picatinny rails on the top and both sides. At the bottom there are 3 holes to add a sling. You can use whichever suits you better. I use a sling from my old laptop bag. The magnetic holders have different angles for maximum comfort when holding the VR rifle. The magnetic pull force of both controller holders are adjustable by using different shims.

I’ve tried to use parts that are everywhere available in european home improvement markets like OBI Baumarkt, V-Baumarkt, Bauhaus, etc. The pipes may differ in outer diameter from 21.3mm up to 21.6mm. The holes in the designed parts are 21.7mm to make sure they fit. Use galvanized pipes to avoid rust corrosion over time.

Bill of materials:
1x 1/2″ pipe length= 400mm (outer diameter 21.6mm) galvanized
1x 1/2″ pipe length= 200mm (outer diameter 21.6mm) galvanized

2x M5 nut DIN934 / ISO4032
2x M3x12mm screws DIN7991 / ISO10642 for the controller holder
2x M3 nut DIN934 / ISO4032

13x screws 2.9x13mm DIN 7981 / ISO14585 for rails and front sling body

3D printing settings

I printed the parts on a non-modified Prusa i3 MK3 with Prusament PLA army green and galaxy black. I used the default 0.3mm DRAFT profile for faster printing with no supports and 20% infill.

For the main body parts I used a huge 25mm brim to avoid tipping over. See the picture with the parts on the heatbed!

Thanks for the input. I will try adding another washer :)

Hi Spongymoose,
with the N45 pot magnets I have, using 2 washers (the magnet is touching the pipe then) it's really hard to slide back and forth. Also it was not meant to slide back and forth anyway.

Hey again.

Well it's potmagnets alright but as said they're a tad weaker that yours (by a few kg). Maybe the pipes are not as magnetic as your, but it's galvanized vvs-pipes, so I would assume they're fine. Maybe I should put in another washer. Are your magnets touching the pipe? I am not sure if they will be damaged over time by contact, but I guess it's worth a shot.

Part of it is probably also expectations on my part that are to high. I didn't take into account that the magnets slide back and forth, which is a natural thing for a magnet to do. I just loved that there was a lot of available space to attach while having the headset on.

I will get some more game-time soon I hope. I absolutely love the design - worth every penny.

Hi Spongymoose,

check if your magnets are really N45 (+ the pot magnet version) and with 8mm height. The pot around the magnet makes it way stronger than a magnet without the pot! Also check if the pipes are magnetic and not from some other alloys. I bought my N45 pot magnets from a known shop in europe. Maybe some other sources from ebay or amazon, aliexpress are not real N45 and then they're way too weak. With my pot magnets and 2 washers I have to be very careful removing the controllers without breaking them. Seems like your magnets are not really N45 or not the pot version.

I made this and it's a great fit. Easy to assemble and looks awesome. I do however think the magnets are on the weak side. They slide back and forwards way to easy to have a good, firm grip and the feel of pushing the stock into your shoulder - and it's nearly impossible to remove the main hand without the stock dropping off the secondary, weaker magnet.

I am using two washers per controller and the magnets are pretty much flush with the pipe. The only magnets I could source are 19kg and 30kg though, so they are slight underdimensioned, althoughI doubt the few ekstra kg would solve any of my issues. I can order more magnets, sure, but just putting it out there for others to know what to expect.

I know most of this is more related to physics than bad stock design, but I'm thinking of looking into having the magnets grip harder - somehow. It will most likely mean someting else suffers (maybe fixed controller-points with a flat surface for better grab), but right now it just feels too finicky to handle while also wearing a headset - and getting shot at...

Yes of course you can design your own WMR controller holders from scratch if you want. It's up to you. I had only access to Oculus hardware.

i would like to know if i could design it for wmr controllers?
Thank you
