Bill of materials:

  • 1150g of filament of your choice. PLA is good. I recommend PLA Extrafil in two different colors. Make sure that colors are not too dark otherwise marbles will be hard to see.
  • 50x 7.144mm | 9/32” Chrome steel ball bearings
  • Motor N20 3V 15 - 60RPM (I used 15RPM in the video)
  • 2x AA or AAA 1.5V battery
  • AA or AAA battery holder
  • 2x 608 skateboard bearings (use a good quality ones at 0.5€/each, I do not recommend the cheapest ones because they have too much sideways wobble)
  • CA Super/instant glue or Hot glue gun
  • (optional) 12mm metal Locking Latching switch
  • (optional) JST connector

Fasteners:

  • 10x M3 Nut Square
  • 6x M3 Nut
  • 6x M3x10 Hex Bolt
  • 3x M3x12 Hex Bolt
  • 7x M3x16 Hex Bolt

3D printing settings

A new major version 1.1 was released today. A lot of quality of life improvements, the parts count is now down to 22 from 28 and some parts align together much better!

Thanks. I rather thought that would be the case. I couldn't see how you could possibly even make one for £21.48 let alone sell it at a profit! I'll buy the files and have a go. It looks brilliant and must have taken you a very long time to design. Keith

@KEITHEDWARD,
Sorry for the confusion, on my website I also sell them assembled so the text got copied over a bit too hastily. I will change it now. But yes, these are just the STL files, you 3d print them on your own and also buy the small parts such as the motor, marbles, etc...

I've just noticed that I've misquoted the price by a large margin. It's NOT £28. It is £21.48. I am very sorry for this mistake.

Hi
Just a quick question because I'm not quite clear what I would be buying!

"This 3D printed marble machine is exactly what you’re looking for! It comes fully assembled so it is ready to go when you are" suggests I would be buying the complete model all made up and ready to roll (sorry).

But, "If you purchase the printable files, then you will also get free access to all of the new interchangeable modules that I release in the future" implies that I would be buying the .stl files to make it myself.

Can you clarify whether the £28 is for the ready-made model or the files to make it myself? It's the latter that I'd like to have a go at.

Thanks

Keith

oh wow amazing design! I would so love to print this.. but 20 Euros is pretty dear... great work.
