3D model description
A toy airplane, toon version of the A-4M Skyhawk, the "Scooter", a workhorse of a plane.
A similar version gave it screen fame as the agile Aggressor planes in "Topgun", Viper gave Maverick and his F-14 a good workout on an A-4.
Check out the little compressor face inside the joining ducts :)
(The pictures are from the prototype, some tweaks were added later to make it easier to print the rudder - mine failed - and the finer details: antennas, vortex generators. When I print it again, will update the pictures).
3D printing settings
Slicing in CURA:
- Always Enable "Union Overlapping Volumes" in "Mesh Fixes" Panel.
- Infill: 30%
- Supports: yes, "touching the build plate".
- Layer height: 0.1mm
- Bed adhesion: 8mm brim
- Glue the engine exhaust in place after removing supports.
With these settings and a print and travel speed of 40mm/sec, took about 6hrs to print. The nozzles are separate parts, glue in place after removing supports.
Be extra careful removing supports from wingtips and tails, these areas are usually fragile.
