3D model description
One of my earliest memories is playing with a similar toy. Treat your mechanically inclined and curious toddler to this classic.
3D printing settings
- Flat gear
- Crank gears (2 versions - fingertip and post).
The plate size is 190 x 190 x 13.5 mm. Gears are 48 x 48 x 9.5 mm.
Print 1 plate and as many flat gears and crank gears as desired.
The print settings are generally not critical. These will work good for reasonably fast printing, assuming a .4mm nozzle.
- No support
- 1.5 mm walls
- .3 mm line height
- .5 mm line width (yes .5)
- No infill
- No brim, use skirt or none.
You can use finer quality settings if print speed is not an issue.
If using Cura, you can optionally activate "ironing", with .3 mm line spacing (or less). Use .6 mm inset and zigzag pattern. This will help smooth out the print lines on top surfaces.
Trim or file any minor imperfections from the posts and gear holes.
If needed, apply lubrication by rubbing the raised friction rings or gear bottoms with child safe dry bar soap.
Print time is about 8 hours for the plate, and 40 minutes for each gear.
