3D model description

My rendition of yet another very old, and very simple, children's toy.

Sure there is the possibility of potential, kinetic and mass inertia energy involved (try it with just the axle), and as such there most certainly must be some sort of physics lesson that can be derived from somewhere in this thing, but most important, the grandkids love it, which of course is why I made it.

Video of prototype is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gkM4ybjZo4.

Designed using Sketchup Make 2015, and printed in PLA on a Makerbot Replicator 2 using Makerware 2.3.3.42 "Standard" Settings (.2mm layer height, 2 shells, 10% infill).

3D printing settings

Parts I purchased:

1) 1 4" by 8" sheet of 200 grit sandpaper (hobby, craft or hardware store).

2) 1/2" wide double sided tape (hobby, craft or hardware store).

Study "Assembly.skp".

Print and assemble all pieces as shown in "Assembly.skp". Carefully remove the hold down pads on "Base.stl" and "Axle.stl".

Place a strip of sticky tape on the rolling surface of each of the two ramps. Next, carefully stick the sheet of sandpaper on the tape, then carefully aligning the edge with the edge of the ramp. Once positioned and secured in place, carefully trim the excess away using a razor blade or hobby knife. Repeat for the remaining ramp. I've included a photo of a completed ramp.
